A Quiet Place Day One

A Quiet Place: Day One is a rarity in horror, it is a sequel/prequel that somehow feels different. Obviously it deals with the same monsters, but plot wise it is more of a road movie. A road movie in which even in short terms, we meet and care for characters. We see bonds grow and wonderfully in the silence. The tension is thick and maybe cause there is a cat involved, i was extra invested. But this film also feels different because of Michael Sarnoski. This didn't feel like a director for hire cash grab like many indie directors do for the MCU, this here felt like he had something to say, and for those that have seen Pig, you know what he can deliver.

Poolman

Well i watched Poolman......Chris Pine is super proud of this......i'm not gonna say it was terrible, cause you can tell there is heart in here but it is definitely a mess. It is insanely inspired it just needed a tighter script. It would play well with Big Lebowski and Beach Bum only it is not as great as Lebowski or as zany as Bum.

I Used To Be Funny

I Used To Be Funny is a film that is very poignant, very depressing and yes, very funny. The subject matter  brings upon the poignancy the depression comes as the story unravels but humor....it is a film about stand up comics.....is sprinkled throughout. It shines a light on what is & isn't funny, dated humor and good ol self loathing, but the real heart is the plot. Ally Pankiw is a director to watch, and Rachel Sennott has already impressed in the past, this just cemented her. It's not a coming of age film more than a finding oneself through finding another.

The Watchers

I see the Watchers getting alot of hate. Is is a perfect film? Not at all, it is full of flaws, but i was engaged the entire time thinking of my own theories, some of which happened. It could have used some trimming here and there and a tighter script  Ishana Night Shyamalan is truly her dad's daughter in terms of keeping the monsters in the dark and using twists.

Unfrosted

I love Seinfeld, the TV series, Jerry himself is a bit questionable these days. His views are one thing, but then you get Unfrosted and .......what is the deal with not knowing how to direct? This is a lazy ass film that is cringe worthy both in terms of acting & humor. It felt like various clips of ideas that were shot and loosely tied together. I don't want to say it was unwatchable, but it was damn near close to it. Trash the Seinfeld finale all you want, but this is the real horrible ending to a career.

The Feeling That The Time For Doing Something Has Passed

The Feeling That The Time For Doing Something Has Passed is not only the more pretentious title of the year but it also is one of the more tedious watches. I loved the 00's sex positive films but here is just feels pretentious & dull, much like how the actual kink scene feels these days. As a Fetlifer i get what the film was doing but it shined a light into how fucked the world can be all while having us follow the most boring lead imaginable.
