The original Room is a terribly awesome flick about a man named Johnny, his future wife Lisa and her affair with his best friend Mark. The plot is dropped in the remake....oh shit, this isn't a remake? Fuck, well, the acting is amazing in this and it deserves the nominations it is getting! This is bleak as fuck and not a fun film to watch, no football and plastic spoons here, just depressing scenes that make you hate cockstains and love life. Brie Larson is fantastic and Jacob Tremblay gives one of the best child acting performances of all time!

X Files Season X

So i grew up with the X Files, it was a weekly tradition, i loved it, the later seasons were hit & miss, and the earlier ones only got better with repeat viewings as a teen. The movies were spotty at best but this year, the truth returned, this year, the truth is out there, and i am glad as it was amazing. The first two episodes laid the ground work for the season, alien DNA, after that we get three "monster of the week" episodes, and they were great. The Lizard Man was schlock B Movie goodness, the Trashman was super unique and could/should be a great slasher, and last weeks trip was surreal and brilliant. Now i will say this, for 6 episodes, they should have had more connections and build up to the finale.....the finale was nuts, so damn good and left you wanting more, the show accomplished something, it is like the start of Ghostbusters 2, being back in business is great!

The Witch

2014 it was the Babadook, which i was underwhelmed by, 2015 it was It Follows, which blew my mind, now 2016 we have the Witch, which is middle of the road, not as much overhype as Babadook, not as awesome as It Follows. It looks pretty damn good, very atmospheric and at times creepy, the main child actor is great, but it is rather dull, i thought it was going to be a slow burn, but really not much happens.

Freaks of Nature

Here is yet another film that didn't get alot of love and i don't know why. Is it a masterpiece? No! But it wasn't supposed to be, it is a fun horror flick, sure the premise is absurd but in its chaotic storytelling it works. Werewolves, zombies(even if they are "brain" zombies that talk, vampires(that don't burst into flames upon sunlight) and aliens? Plus it has a phenomenal cast, come on, this is a total beer & pizza/party movie. If it gains a cult following then that will be awesome, but even those i would expect to "cult it up" seem to dis on it. I say,  turn off your mind, relax & float down stream!

Ben Stiller Films Ranked

No this is not about movies he has been in, this is for his directorial films.

1. Zoolander
One of the most quotable films of all time in my mind, plus in my opinion one of the 5 funniest films of all time.

2. Reality Bites
One of the definitive films of the 90s, a gen x love letter!

3. Zoolander 2
I don't get the hate for this, i think it is a film that those of us that watch Zoolander alot(i watch it atleast once a year) will dig, if the first was just a film you enjoyed, you might hate it. I think it was just people having fun, sure it relied on gags from the first, but it was done in such a way where it felt more like franchise checkpoints(if it was a franchise) Stiller, Wilson, Ferrell, Theroux, Zane, Cruz Cumberbatch, all were having a blast it seemed. Holy hell does Penelope Cruz never age? She is gorgeous! The cameos were awesome, Susan Sarandon quoting RHPS lyrics made my day! This is a long line in comedy sequels that get hate but i wound digging quite a bit!

4. Cable Guy
Maybe not definitive of the 90s but surely his most over film!

5. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
One of the most underrated films of all time!

6. Tropic Thunder
Being bottom isn't a bad thing, this is a hilarious film! The faux trailer are golden!

So X Men is a series i prefer to the MCU, i love them, Deadpool i was excited for but weary on, mainly because i feared the humor would be forced.....luckily the humor(mainly) works, and when it does, it is hysterical, not only are the jokes funny but the gags are funny, funny & bloody. The film's opening credits give you a taste of what you are in store for, in the stylized way it is put together with anarchy & destruction foreshadowing the violence to come, but with the goofy credits that are brilliant and shows the film doesn't take itself seriously, it breaks the fourth wall(as Deadpool should) and mocks itself, but doesn't belittle its value at all. It has heart behind it, films like this & Guardians are refreshing and we need more like it. That isn't to say i dislike serious Captain America & Batman films or what could be batshit crazy in Suicide Squad, but it is nice to be able to just enjoy a comic book film for being a comic! Ryan Reynolds nails it, TJ Miller is awesome in his small part, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano & Brianna Hilderbrand all do well in their parts and are hot as fuck, plus Colossus actually seems like Colossus in this!

When Black Birds Fly

So i dig Jimmy Screamerclauz, Where the Dead go to Die is awesome, fucked up, but awesome, his latest effort ups it. It is fucked up, it is beautiful, it is psychedelic, almost like an M Dot Strange film. It is what is David Lynch and Roman Polanski has collaborated in the 70s with a script that was helmed by Dario Argento! This is the film i wanted Tim Burton to give us, but he doesn't it, pure brilliance!

The Coen Brothers Ranked

The Coen Brothers are master filmmakers, gritty crime? You betcha, silly comedy, you betcha, western? Drama? You betcha!

1. Big Lebowski
Was there any question this would be my number one? Was of the best films of the 90's, so iconic, so quotable, only downfall is alot of people can't see Jeff Bridges without seeing the Dude, it has transcended being a cult film and is a part of pop culture!

2, Inside Llewyn Davis
This film hits home, it is personal & shows love towards folk music & the struggles that musicians must go through.

3. No Country For Old Men
One of the 00's best films, probably their most intense!

4. Raising Arizona
What did critics & cinephiles think back in 87, after coming off a solid debut with Blood Simple and then getting this comedy? Hey, it shows range!

5, Fargo
Pretty much known as their masterpiece and for good reason, dark humor, a sharp script and great performances!

6. Blood Simple
If this was their sole film, people would be saying, remember that AMAZING film? Whatever happened to those directors? I wonder if they would have continued to kick ass? They did!

7. Burn After Reading
Criminally underrated, it gets lost in their comedies with Lebowski & Arizona

8. Millers Crossing
Much like Burn, it gets lost, but here it gets lost in their 90's work, it seems most of their work until Fargo did.

9. A Serious Man
Their smallest film, yet easily the most personal to them!

10. The Man Who Wasn't There
I had seen Lebowski after it hit video, same with Fargo & O Brother Where Art Thou but this is the film that made me want to see their work in theatres, still waited til video but it was an early art house film i loved.

11.Barton Fink
Awesome showcase of old hollywood.

12, Hail Caesar
Much like Barton Fink, but with comedy, it shows they should do a flat out homage flick sometime soon!

13, O Brother Where Art Thou?
The first time i hear the name the Coens was cause of this, i had seen Lebowski & Fargo but this is the same time i began to notice directors, watched al their films after this!

14. True Grit
A remake that is on par if not better than the original!

15, Hudsucker Proxy
Not a bad film by any means, just doesn't pack a punch.

16. Intolerable Cruelty
This film gets too much hate

17. The Ladykillers
Being last is not a bad thing, i am a fan of all their films, this is just the short straw!

The Boy, Martyrs the 5th Wave & The Forest horror quadruple bill....well not really but still

So this week i caught up on my horror, The Forest wasn't bad, was atmospheric but i did not care for it over all, the "twist" wasn't bad but it felt like the film had no real direction.
The remake of Martyrs actually somewhat impressed me, it was to bad, it was not the original but it would be hard to be, no where near the brutality or gore but it did what it could....though for a non theatrical release it could have done alot more.
The 5th Wave seemed like if Cloverfield was more like Independence Day but done as a young adult novel.
The Forest basically felt like a J Horror film but for fans of video gme cut scenes, it was not awful, yet just not good.

Mike Tyson Mysteries

If you are a fan of 60's cartoons like Johnny Quest and love absurd humor that is random and halftarded that makes you laugh your ass off for 15 minutes or so every week then Mike Tysons's Mysteries is the show for you.To me the show is superior to the Venture Bros which shares a similar aesthetic though with more wit, where as this is pure slap stick, and it works! Really is not alot to say, both seasons fly by, and could knock both out in about 3 hours, so just go ahead and do it!
