Andre Ovredal is a director that knows atmosphere. Al of his films are fun and keep a sense of eeerie. Passenger is that, while it feels suited for a short film it works well at 90ish minutes. Think La Llorana or any episode of Supernatural, it's a highway film and as someone that loves highways and grew up reading about hobo life I found much of this fascinating. The demon is creepy and the tension is kept throughout.
