The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is one of the funniest comedies and best action films in quite a while. Nicholas Cage playing Nicholas Cage is perfect, he gets to be unhinged Cage that many of us love, all while essentially being a more main stream cage at the same time. Pedro Pascal is doing his best work here and the two have great chemistry and multiple layers. It is an inspiring film in terms of creativity as well as it's meta nature. It's style oozes John Woo, the film's awareness has an essence of Hot Fuzz, and the overall film love is perfect and knowledgeable, from German Expressionism to summer blockbusters. If you love Cage's 90s films this is perfect for you as it leans heavy on them, but if you are more of a fan of his more gonzo work then there is also plenty to love. From Wild at Heart to The Rock, from National Treasure to Mandy, it covers it all.
